Lens TaThip

About Lens TaThip & How It Works

Last updated 15 October 2026

Lens TaThip is a tool for preliminary screening of amulets from photos. It helps beginners and collectors see the key identifying features before they make a decision. We do not issue authenticity certificates, and we do not replace experts.

How it works

  1. Image quality check Sharpness, glare and brightness are measured as soon as you select a photo, and checked again on the server. Images that do not pass are not sent to the AI.
  2. AI analysis The image is sent to an AI Vision model to analyze the mould and shape, identifying marks, manufacturing traces and the coin edge (if you also send an edge photo).
  3. Summary Shows the likely model/edition name, a confidence %, identifying marks on the image, and an estimated price range.
  4. Weight check (if entered) Compares the weight and size you measured against the standard values known to the AI (with a tolerance of ±0.4 grams).

Limitations you should know

  • The clearer the photo, the more accurate the result All results are read from photos, so the system checks sharpness, glare and brightness before every analysis. Images that are not ready are not sent to the AI, and the system will tell you how to retake the photo.
  • Confidence % is the AI model's level of confidence, not an accuracy figure that has been statistically tested.
  • Prices are a range estimated by the AI from general knowledge. They are not yet drawn from actual auction results or sales.
  • The AI is most accurate with popular moulds that have a lot of published information. For rare amulets or moulds with little information, results may be significantly off.

For high-value amulets, always have the actual piece examined by an expert or a reputable amulet association.
